Travis County
Milton Reimers Ranch Park

Thursday, October 19, 2017

We will meet at Chapel in the Hills at 7:15 a.m. for the roughly 45 minute drive to Reimers Ranch Park. We will carpool from the Chapel. Those who want to drive directly there, please be at the Reimber Ranch at 8:00 a.m. We will start birding in the pavilion parking lot (booth staff can give you directions). The address is: 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping springs. Take Ranch Road 12 to Hamilton Pool Road and turn left. The entrance will be five miles down on your right. Out guide will be Janene Winn, former maintenance worker and bird guide for Reimers Ranch. There will be a charge of $10 cash per car. Those over 62 will get in free. Participants do not have to pre-register.

Reimers Ranch Park is located in southwestern Travis County. It is approximately 2500 acres with 600 acres open to the public and the rest is preserve land. The park also has three miles of riverfront on the Pedernales River. We will be hiking on relatively easy terrain for about two hours. A wide variety of birds including roadrunners, canyon wrens, woodpeckers, herons and sparrows can be seen.

Lunch will be at Rolling in Thyme and Dough, 333 W. Highway 290, Dripping Springs.

It is approximately 15 miles from the park. When you get to 290 turn right and it will be on your left about a quarter mile down.

For additional information, please contact: Janene Winn at 512 914-5584.
